Breaking His Own Record: Calvin Chen's First Year at Power

First year I came to Power, I had my record.

Calvin has been at Power for a year and a half. Before that, he was at a big-box brokerage, working solo with no leads coming in. Moving to a team environment changed both the support around him and the leads flowing into his business, and the difference in his client base was, in his words, night and day from his old brokerage.

A record-breaking first year

First year I came to Power, I had my record.

Calvin says every closing feels like a success story when the leads are real, even with the occasional miss that comes with any business in real estate. Most of the clients he’s worked with here have been genuinely enjoyable, and the transactions have gone smoothly.

Training that keeps him uncomfortable, on purpose

Calvin describes the training here as something that keeps him growing by keeping him slightly uncomfortable: there’s always something new, always someone ahead of him to chase, never a point where the ceiling feels close. The specific training he finds most impactful is role play, particularly practicing presentations and different client scenarios on his teammates rather than live on real clients. In a business built on how agents talk to people, he says, that rehearsal is what earns the five-star reviews.

One CRM, every integration

The CRM, Follow Up Boss, is the tool Calvin credits most with his efficiency, not because a CRM itself is unique to real estate, but because of how deeply everything connects to it here: email, texts, recorded calls, leads, all funneled into one hub instead of scattered across separate tools. RealScout adds another layer, syndicating MLS listings to clients on a consistent basis and letting Calvin see which homes they like or pass on before booking a showing.

Accountability that works backward from the close

Calvin describes Power’s accountability system as daily, weekly, and monthly, always top of mind. The office works backward from what a closing requires: how many calls it takes to get an appointment, and how many appointments it takes to get a transaction. Weekly quotas on calls, conversations, and appointments tie directly to access to leads, so prospecting never fully stops.

A team that’s genuinely open

Calvin points to an open Slack channel where agents ask for help with showings or open houses, and says the office runs on people jumping in to help each other rather than guarding their own business.

If a record year sounds like what’s missing from your solo practice, book a call and see what a team built around you could do for your numbers.
